ITINERARY

DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 1: PUNO – UROS FLOATING ISLANDS

We pick you up at your hotel at 7:45 am. The first stop will be at the floating islands of Uros. We will visit this islands, that are build on the world’s highest navigable lake. Our guide will explain the importance of the islands. Our visit will take about 1 hour and a half.

Second site: Amantani Island (overnight on Amantatni)

To reach the island of Amantani, we will drive 9.0 miles or up to three hours of navigation, you can view a variety of scenic beauty and the mountains (Andes). In the main harbor of Amantani, the president of the community will welcome us and we will be divided into groups, so that families can be responsible for giving us all the care, housing, food and company. During the night, you have the option to go for a walk around the sacred mountain, known asPacha Tata. This tour will be coordinated by the guide. Amantani is also known for the friendliness of its people and the naturally inhabit Cantuta flower house. Eight communities are involved in farming terraces, sheep farming, craft fabrics and stone sculptures.

DAY 2: AMANTANI – TAQUILE

After a delicious breakfast, we head to the next island, Taquile Island, a navigation of 1 hour. Most people of Taquile are very supportive and organized. It is why taquileños showed a high degree of progress in the textiles, receiving the award by UNESCO. Significantly, the spinning and weaving are made mostly by men, from the age of eight on. Women are only yarn and fabrics. Life on Taquile is still largely unchanged by modernity. The visit will be an average of two hours and you have an hour to enjoy a delicious typical lunch. If you really want to be part of this community, you can contribute on a voluntary basis by purchasing some of their crafts. So this community has some means of sustainability, in that way they can continue to show their existence for future travelers. Finally our guide will inform them, that we will leave around 17 in the afternoon to the city of Puno. There we take the night bus to Cusco. Approximate arrival at 5:00 am.

DAY 3: FREE DAY IN CUSCO

This day will be free to enjoy the city of Cusco, the cradle of the Inca civilization. With its main square, surrounded by mansions with their portals and balconies of the fifteenth century, that make this place unique and picturesque. Near the square are several museums with history of the Inca civilization, markets with local delicacies, such as various kinds of corns, potatoes and fruits from the region. Continuing the visit, we can see the stone of 12 angles, that will be on the road to San Blas neighborhood, with its many art workshops. Cuzco has the first school of arts of stone from America. Take your time to take photos of this amazing city museum. You can buy folk music in the dance show at 18.00 Qosqo Native Art Center – Entrance included. Overnight Cusco.

DAY 4: CITY TOUR – ARCHAEOLOGICAL VISITS – KORICANCHA – SACSAYHUAMAN – KENKO – TAMBOMACHAY – PUCAPUCARA

This morning we will visit the museums of Cusco: Regional Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum Qoricancha Museum of Popular Art.
In the afternoon, we will have a city tour where we visit the beautiful cathedral of Cusco, known as one of the most beautiful in the Americas, with all the gold inside. It also has a large collection of works by spanish baroque. Then we will go to Qoricancha, also known as Temple of the Sun. Undoubtedly one of the most interesting places in the city. Over it was built  the Church of Santo Domingo. We will continue our tour visiting four archaeological sites near Cusco, as the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which is famous Inti Haymi (Fiesta del Sol, the most popular party in the country), Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay (the famous Inca baths). We return to Cusco around 18:30. Accommodation in Cusco.

DAY 5: SACRED VALLEY – PISAQ – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES

Early departure to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will stop to have contact with local people and for a classical view of the beautiful landscapes of the valley. Upon arrival to the colorful Pisaqmarket and its ruins, we will have a guided tour for the archaeological site of Pisaq. Then we have time to interact with local artisans and buy some souvenirs and fine crafts. We will continue to Urubamba, where you have a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. Then we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of the Inca, with remarkable channels and stone streets. Here ends the tour of the Sacred Valley and we will take the train to the city of Aguas Calientes, where our staff will be waiting to bring you to the hotel. The citadel of Aguas Calientes is a very safe and clean dormitory town, nestled between the mountains, consisting mainly of hotels, restaurants, small markets, jewelry and crafts fair. Overnight in Aguas Caliente.

DAY 06: MACHU PICCHU full day

Breakfast in the hotel at 5:00 am. Then begins the ascent by bus, that takes about 25 minutes, to the wonderful Inca city Machu Picchu. It is universally known for its unique and impressive Inca engineering culture, its incomparable location on the edge of the abyss. Our guide will give all the information about this magical place Machu Picchu in a 2 hours tour. Then you will have free time to explore on your own, or to climb Huayna Picchu.

After this we descend to Aguas Calientes, where we will have the option of visiting the thermal baths of the region. In the afternoon we will return to Cusco, first by train to Ollantaytambo , then by bus to Cusco.

DAY 07: TRANSFER

At set times, transfer to the airport in Cusco.

RECOMMENDATIONS

RECOMMENDATIONS:

The climb to the Sun Gate is always available and free. This is a nice place with a view of Machu Picchu.

If you prefer Huaynapicchu with its dramatic views, this must be booked in advance and costs 25 dollars per person. The climb takes 45 minutes and is moderately difficult. The other option is the Machu Picchu Mountain, 1.5 hours steep climb, very demanding and $ 15 per person. This is probably the most spectacular of all views, but all three options are very nice and will allow you to make very good photos.

The tourist ticket is essential to make the city tour, Sacred Valley, Moray, museums. It costs 130 Soles per foreign adult. This ticket is not included in this program, you have to buy it once you get to Cusco.
